Adam DeMarco

Adam DeMarco was born on October 19, 1985 in Baltimore, Maryland. Adam is the only child to Pamela and David. Adam's mother worked in property management and real estate while his father served as a civil servant in the federal government, after having served as a sheriff's deputy for several years. His parents instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, generosity, and respect for others.

Service runs deep in Adam's family. His paternal grandfather, also a Baltimore native, was a Sailor aboard the USS Houston in 1942 when it was sunk in one of the very first naval battles of World War II. He remained a POW throughout the war until he was liberated by U.S. Forces in 1945. His maternal grandfather was a United States Marine, and served in the Korean War where he received a purple heart for wounds sustained in combat.

The lessons and values his family provided Adam at an early age have been instrumental in his development as a West Point Cadet, Army Officer, civic leader and organizer.

Adam attended Riverview high school in Sarasota, FL where he was a standout athlete. And it was here that Adam was first called to service after the attacks of September 11th. As he was still in high school, Adam knew that his future would be rooted in service to the Nation. As a standout athlete, Adam received interest from many Colleges and Universities to play both football and soccer, but given his calling to serve, Adam sought to attend a Service Academy in order to prepare him for a lifetime of selfless service to the Nation.

Adam earned an appointment to the United States Military Academy, at West Point, where he was a member of the famed Army football team. Upon graduation, Adam commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery, and departed for his first assignment. Shortly thereafter, Adam deployed to Kirkuk, Iraq, where he served in a multitude of roles, and gained invaluable national security, foreign policy, and international development experience.

In 2013, Adam was selected to deploy with a small team to Jordan, under Central Command Forward, where he partnered with members of the Jordanian Border Guard in an effort to assess the Syrian civil war, and violent extremist networks within the region. During this time, which he calls the most "indelible experience of his life", Adam witnessed the atrocities of war. Adam was selected to lead a team to embed at a refugee center and gain situational awareness of atmospherics of the Syrian refugee crisis. It was this moment where Adam's passion for service expanded to "helping those who can't help themselves".

In 2017, Adam declared his candidacy for the United States Congress to represent Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District, losing in the primary to an incumbent. While others would look at the loss as a setback, Adam calls it “the most successful failure of my life”.

Then in 2018, Adam mobilized and deployed to United States European Command, headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany where he served as an Executive Officer within the Joint Operations Center. Upon returning to the United States in late 2019, Adam returned to Washington, DC and reassessed his life, passion, and purpose.

Adam has spent the past few years in business consulting, along with being a small business owner himself. He also has been instrumental in the development of several initiatives to build civic relationships between civilians and military service-members. Adam is extremely involved in the community and serves on the executive and advisory boards of several nonprofits, and champions numerous other philanthropic causes he is passionate about. He also coaches football in his little spare time, and is extremely physically active—having run several marathons and triathlons.

In 2020, Adam was again mobilized this time to respond to the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, where he was selected to serve as an operational and logistical planner supporting local hospitals in Washington, DC. It was during this activation that Adam found himself challenged with one of the most difficult decisions as a result of the events at Lafayette Square on June 1st, 2020. Adam then later found himself again activated as a result of the Capitol Insurrection on January 6th, 2021, which is calls “ [one of] the saddest days of my life”.

Adam holds a Bachelors of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and a Masters of Arts in International Business and Policy. from the Walsh School of Foreign Service and McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.
